Among Irpinia's most exciting vineyards which have been drawing increasing interest from researchers are the centenarian vines of Taurasi. Predating phylloxera, these ungrafted vines are over 2.5 meters tall with intertwined branches up to 4-5 meters in length, a training method called "a Tennecchia" in the local dialect. Walking in a vineyard enclosed by its vines like an embrace is a truly unique and moving sight - a real open-air museum.
